Four years…..That’s how long it has been since I have been to a NEW hockey arena. I certainly went to my fair share when living in Upstate New York and then when I moved to Jersey, I pretty much exhausted all the available ones quite fast (Trenton, Reading and Hershey). Even though we’ve planning a Flyers game at the Wachovia Center in March, it just couldn’t wait any longer and we have now come full circle. The last hockey arena was in May of ’06 when we attended a Hershey Bears playoff game at the beautiful Giant Center. Tomorrow, it’s back to Hershey, this time to see the Bears old barn: HersheyPark Arena. I can not wait as there is so much history in such a wonderful old facility and am excited to see what it looks like inside. Luckily, they kept the place running as Lebanon Valley College plays there and we’ll see them take on Hobart in a 3 PM matinee. I know my original February plan was to see an Army basketball game at Chrystl Arena next weekend, but with it always being 50-50 on whether I’m working a weekend day or not this winter, I figured, it was best to take advantage of a rare day off and take the opportunity for a new visit. I’ll probably post something Sunday on the visit, that is if I can maneuver around those 2-4 foot snow mounds around Dauphin County!
